Causes of Fire

"Fire can be caused by a variety of factors which can be generally classified into two".

Here are the main causes of fire:

                   Natural Causes

Lightning Strike

A common cause of wildfires particularly in dry conditions.

Volcanic Eruption

Lava and ash ignite can surrounding materials.

Spontaneous Combustion

Certain organic materials can generate heat and eventually ignite on their own especially in the presence and air(oily gas, hay,or compost).

Drought and Extreme Weather

Extended dry conditions can make vegetation highly flammable.

        Human Induced Causes

Open Flames

Camp Fires,Candles, and Fireworks can all ignite surrounding materials if not monitored or controlled.

Arson

Intentionally-set fires can be a significant source of wildfires or structural fires.

Electrical Failures

Faulty wiring, overload circuits and malfunctioning appliances can spark fires.

Cooking

Unattended cooking is one of the leading causes of house fires

Smoking Materials

Can ignite flammable substances if not extinguished properly.

Flammable Liquids

Gasoline, solvent and other flammable chemicals can ignite from sparks or open flames.

Equipment and Machinery

Overheated machinery or equipment as well as friction from machinery failure can lead to fires.

Negligence

Leaving flammable materials near heat sources or not following safety protocols can increase fire risk.

Poor Maintenance

Lack of maintenance for electrical systems or appliances can lead to failure and fires.

Dry Vegetation

Accumulation of dry leaves bush and grass can create fuels for fire especially in areas prone to wildfires.

Children

Don't leave children alone in kitchen or where there is any open fire or with lighters, matches.
